Footer Widget Issue

I’ve been experiencing issues with trying to apply custom menus or any widget to the footer areas. The only widgets that have worked have been the categories, pages, search or calendar widgets. What i’m trying to accomplish is generate a contact us section (widget) and a custom menu to present a service menu.

I’ve tried to accomplish both of these in a variety of different ways through the customization page as well as through the widget screen. What I’m it is doing is not allowing me to save the changes and they’re not being applied to the page as proof of the failure to save.

If anyone has experienced this can you please give me some insight. I truly like this theme…
